RESEARCH PROJECT:
Since December 2000 a research project on “The Muslim World in the Twenty First Century” has been undertaken by me. It aims to study the nature of social, political and economic changes in the Muslim World. Future, challenges and strategies for dealing with them will also be focused on.
I served as patron of Ford Foundation – Department of International Relations (K.U.) research project on the Middle East Peace Process from 1997 to 2000.

  • Fulbright – Hayes Award 1977 – 78.
  • Awarded Fellowship by Oslo University for participation in the Summer School 1980.
  • Participated in Salzburg Seminar on the U.S. System of Government 25th June - 8th July 1995.
  • Participated in the International Visitors Programme 2nd April to 24th April 1999.

RESEARCH GUIDANCE:

  1. Have supervised research work on Soviet Military Intervention in Afghanistan leading to M. Phil Degree.
  2. Another candidate completed his Ph.D thesis on the Role of MNCS in South Asia. His thesis is being evaluated by external examiners.
  3. Currently six candidates are working on M.Phil and Ph.D theses under my supervision

OCCASIONAL LECTURES:

  1. Lectured at National Defence College, Islamabad on Dynamics of Social and Political Environment in Pakistan and its impact on National Power, November 6th 2001 (have lectured there several times last one being in November 4th, 2002. .
  2. Also lectured at Air War College, Karachi on National Power and Promotion of National Interest 19th July 2003, 18th October 2001, 24th October 2000 and August 1999.
  3. Lectured at the Naval Staff College (Karachi) and Command and Staff College (Quetta) on a number of occasions.

Under my tenure as Chairperson the Syllabi were revised and many new courses were introduced among them are Crisis Management and Conflict Resolution, Disarmament and Arms Control, Confidence Building Measures, Research Methodology, Comparative Foreign Policy Analysis and Science, Technology and International Relations.

  • Currently I am working on a book on Strategies for Peace and Security in the Persian Gulf. The Assignment will be completed by the end of January 2004.
  • I am also working on a textbook project the purpose of which is to produce books on Foreign Policy Analysis and Science, Technology and International Relations
