Ph.D. (1992) from the University of Karachi.
Topic of dissertation: "European Security System
in the Post-Helsinki Accords Period: A Model for South Asia". The
dissertation is a comparative study of the Helsinki framework of European
Security and the South Asian Security system. It analyzes the problems
and prospects in a way for Indo-Pakistan normalization process and also
spells out strategies for building confidence and resolving conflicts
between the two countries as a pre-requisite for peace and stability in
the South Asian region. The dissertation also suggests what lessons the
South Asian countries can learn from the Helsinki model of European security
and the post-Helsinki initiatives launched under the framework of Conference
on Security and Conference in Europe (CSCE).

Afghanistan” in collaboration with the Hanns Seidel Foundation,
Islamabad on March 02-03, 2005.
- Developed a computer lab and conference room at the Department of
International Relations, University of Karachi.
- Developed the website of the Department at www.kuird.org
and also website of Program on Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution
at www.ppscr.org under my supervision.
- .Modernized the Seminar Library, Department of International Relations,
University of Karachi.
- Organized 160 programs under the Graduate Studies Discussion Group
(GSDG) on various topics of International Affairs since August 1996.
GSDG is a weekly discussion program held in the Department involving
